Northeast Regional Office

About Us

The Massachusetts Small Business Development Center Network's Northeast Regional Office provides free and confidential business assistance to prospective and existing small businesses located in the North Shore and Merrimack Valley areas of the state. We also serve areas of the Greater Boston area (visit our cities and towns served page for additional information). Since the beginning of its affiliation with Salem State University in 1992, the Northeast Regional Office has advised almost 10,000 entrepreneurs.

Located at the Bertolon School of Business at Salem State University, the MSBDC is a partnership of the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Massachusetts Office of Business Development and is a program of Salem State University. Certified business advisors provide services at the MSBDC’s main office in Salem and at various outreach locations in the vicinity.

The MSBDC Northeast Regional Office has assisted entrepreneurs in raising over $166 million in financing. Business advisors work with business owners to help them package loans, develop business plans and financial projections, and assemble other documents required by lenders. The MSBDC also works closely with the U.S. Small Business Administration, bankers and government and non-profit lenders to help connect clients with a wide range of financial resources. Business workshops are offered for free or for a nominal fee, and are held in Haverhill and Salem. Many programs are cosponsored with chambers of commerce, banks, local colleges and universities, community development organizations and trade associations.

Business advising and workshop topics cover a wide array of management concerns. This may include business plan development, preventure feasibility, buying or selling a business, financing, cash flow analysis, social media, marketing and personnel issues. The Northeast Regional Office's services are augmented by two specialty centers for assistance with international trade and government contracting.
